Need a translator.

It seems like every hour that passes brings more questions than answers. Another reader, identifying herself as Isadora, sent me another access code for the Wildfire intranet:

4 8 15 16 23 42

But even though this one unlocks a file, I’m still at a loss… The unlocked document is listed as “WFSD: NEWSFILE TC-4815162342″, but it’s in a foreign language that I can’t read.

I’m guessing TC stands for Tsi Chou, the remaining scientist on the Wildfire team?

I’m assuming that this is Chinese. If necessary, someone in the Foreign Languages department might be willing to help me translate it, but I realized that one of you might know how to read Chinese, or know someone else who does.

This article could be useful, or it could turn out to be nothing… but with this much at stake, it’s important to follow every possible clue, wherever it might lead.

Paradox - that is def not Japanese.

Anyway, 1993 was when he graduated from Oxford. No mention of Stone. I couldn’t get a definite translation, but according to my source, the gist of the article is that he defected from China after an outbreak of some pandemic in Shanghai. The character looks like “smallpox” apparently.

still working on a translation for you, but I figured I’d drop in with the headline. To sum it up in english “Chinese Biologist revolts to America.” It implies that he left China under protest, and was quite an accomplished Biologist when he did. I know we all know this, I’ll post the rest when I’m done.

The file you have found is a clipping. However it is not Chinese. It’s Japanese.

To translate it you could try to print it and scan it and then use a program that i don’t know at the moment to put in to text that google can read

At the bottom it says “FILE CROSS-INDEXED AGAINST WFPR-CHOUT.” So I think you’re right, Andrew. I think this has to be something about Tsi Chou. Unfortunately I can’t get a decent copy and paste on the picture and I don’t have Chinese characters on my keyboard so I couldn’t get Google Translate to work at all. Did anyone else have any better luck?

There also must be something in the thought that the numbers are related to an important date because they make a point of noting the date is “UNVERIFIED.”

Just to point out the obvious. The years 1988 and 1993 show up, what happened in those years? 1993 stands out, wasn’t that when Stone was in Iraq?
