Who is General Mancheck? →← Falling Stars... or Aliens?

After last night’s post, I got a lot of messages containing theories and speculation about what’s going on, and what was falling from the sky in that photo. A few weeks ago, I would have laughed at some of these ideas, but nothing seems very funny anymore:

“Sunwinkle” said:

dude, it wont make your mind rest easier, but I know that extra terristrial beings have long been trying to locate a non-uniformNo coincidence that the location is near I-196. 196 is the lowest known Lychrel number (its a number that can never re-create a palindrem (sp). Look it up. Ever wonder why our most famous astronaut was Neil Armstrong? NeilA = Alien

“Mike” said:

I think that it’s some toxic chemical on a falling satellite that explains what happened. A virus or bacteria just wouldn’t drop people like the military video demonstrated, nor would radiation, unless it was a massive dose like 100,000 rads or more. A satellite would also explain the statement during the video about “following the signal”. What signal could they get from a UFO?

And “Larry F” said:

Peruvian Meteor Flu. Same thing happened … what, six months back now, when that meteor crashed on that farm in Peru, and all those people got sick and started dieing, even stock and farm animals. Then the Peruvian Meteorlogical Department showed up and mysteriously every one was fine and they blamed it on mass hysteria and lack of schooling. Coincadentaly, the following winter we have the worst flu season to date with a strain that mutates to fast for a vacine to be any good.

Other theories I’ve received suggest that government space programs are involved, and argue that this is another Roswell or Area 51 scenario. A few people even told me to read about the “moon hoax” of 1969.

Even if I’m willing to accept the prospect of alien life, or government conspiracies, I still have trouble believing that whatever happened in Piedmont is extraterrestrial. It just doesn’t feel right.

Comments on “Little Green Men, Meteors & Satellites”

  1. I have checked numerous sites, as well as Google Earth, and could not locate Piedmont, UT. I of course had no reason to search for it before now, but there is a possiblility that someone out there, maybe high up in the government, is trying to make this look like a hoax in an attempt to draw attention away from the mysterious happenings in Piedmont. The new information you have posted on your blog makes it look like a type of “super virus.” But with the strange object falling from the sky, it raises more questions. Was it an accident? The government testing a new bioweapon? If that, was what happened in piedmont supposed to happen, or was it a mistake? Was it even our government? There are still to many possibilities. All we can do now is hope more information will surface, and pray that the citizens of Piedmont are alive and well, as grim and bleak as it may seem.

  2. I’m in teh same boat you are, Andrew, that thinking about it being alien is sort of beyond my range of consideration. But honestly? Extra-terrestrial just means not from earth. It could be less than little green men and more than from earth. It could be something radiation-based, like someone mentioned, or germ-based, which… could technically come from another world.

That’s not to say that I’m giving up on the satellite theory, mind you, but… the theory goes to embrace all notions until they don’t work anymore. Even if they sound mad to you.

Personally? You might be on the right track. The notion of dangerous material falling from space makes more sense to me than a military project or something like that.

  3. Well, whatever it was… It still doesn’t explain the mass death that happened in Piedmont. If it was any kind of bacteria, virus, or even something that isn’t of this earth, it certainly couldn’t have came by accident. If it is a satellite then what made it fall to Earth, usually scientists try to make a more through plan on how to return the satellite to Earth. They would usually have it fall into the ocean also if it was delibrate so it wouldn’t injure anyone or be easily caught by other people. It could have been pulled by Earth’s gravity, but that would depend on how long it was out in space. For all we know, something might have ran into it and caused it to fall. We have tons of debris in space, and it wouldn’t be hard to think that there might have been something that had collided with the satellite and caused it to fall. Not to mention that whatever had killed the people of Piedmont would have had to have survived the fall from space. It could have actually be from within the satellite, and that could explain why the government is at Piedmont. They could be retrieving the satellite and finding out about the reason behind what hit Piedmont. I doubt it is much of a conspiracy, but it is probably just a clean-up operation. Anywho, this is just a guess so unless there is any proof then this is up for debate.

  4. It is highly likely that an object fell from the sky. Ours or theirs, would not create this kind of action. The would send military to cordon off the area until the recovered it. Their would be a great number of trucks and men in the area. If they were going to be more that a day or two they would likely set up a camp. They would not allow locals into the area for fear of tramping over bits and pieces. Also locals would likely not fear the word of the leaders because the government has lied to them and to the military so often, and would probably pick up pieces of what ever it was. This could foil the attempt to build up a lie and they may lose valuable material. They would not cordon off, clamp down on, cout communications, or any such action, but could if the thought it necessary. It would be more than a crash into the earth of a motorized vehicle or a meteorite. It is far too early to draw conclussions or tell stories of what one thinks, especially to jump to the conclussion that this event is linked to others.

  5. Have you heard anything from Nash yet? He might have some more insight as to what is going on, or have the ability to go through the video frame by frame and pick up on something we are missing.

Keep strong and hang in there. I know this situtation has to be tough on you.

  6. I think the light in the sky IS a government satellite and that would explain the presence of the army. And from the Nash’s interview and the video footage it does look like they are trying to contain and hold something inside the town. If you notice all the army vehicles are parked facing away from the town and there are no tracks going into the town. This means - A. The Army knows something is wrong without going into the town. and B. That would be the reason they sent the robot into the town?

Andrew, Does anybody in your town might have a CB Radio (Source of the Signal Perhaps?)?

  7. If it was aliens or something like, wouldn’t the military try and keep the videos instead of leaking them on to the web? But as with the first video, they military did not know anything at all. If it was some cover up or conspiracy, the press certainly wouldn’t have been allowed in.

  8. Andrew,
I agree with what someone already said. Try getting some satellite photos of the area. You should be able to find them online. Try Google Earth as previously suggested or geology.com/satellite. The only draw back to the viral/space disease theory is that it could spread or maybe it was only active for a few days and they are trying to clean up/make sure it has gone dead before letting civilians enter the area. It is also possible to be infected with a virus or bacteria without showing symptoms at first. The town may have been infected as soon as the object fell and no one knew until days after. You got the call on the 12th and the military is known to be there on the 19th/20th. It may have taken them a few days to react and get there since the chemical spill report didn’t even show up until the 18th. I mean we all know that National Guard isn’t the fastest branch at reacting to disaster.

As for the satellite the Navy was supposed to be shooting down, that was scheduled to happen in late February. If it is a satellite, it would be a different one, possibly one we weren’t “expecting” to fall. After all, it doesn’t take a month and a half for something to fall from space over the same country it was over at the time. If it had been a delayed reaction it would have been over another country or even one of the oceans when it finally fell. Spy satellites do move around and orbit the Earth just like regular ones. They just take selective photos/video.

  9. @gabrielle

Google Earth censors the area, same as places like Area 51.

  10. You know there will always be far out theroies.. and the funny thing is .. even tho some of them seem crazy.. they might have an air of truth.

What’s going on, is strange as hell… the wierd videos, the wierd phone calls.. the odd pictures.. what we need to do is keep making the phone calls.. keep pushing to find info.. we can’t stop now..

  11. Extraterrestrial life may be too far-fethched… however you need to keep thinking outside the box. Was there ever anything about your hometown? an urban legend? maybe whatever crashed was ‘innocent’ and disturbed something…

    Josh E on April 29th, 2008 at 3:25 am
  12. if I remember correctly from the news, the satellite we shot down was still carrying propellant on it that if people came into contact with it, it would be fairly toxic, as well as no longer in control, thats why we did that. maybe it was another satellite like that suddenly started into a degrading orbit and had the misfortune of hitting your town, possibility, nothing more. you can ignore me if you so desire

Jonathan on April 29th, 2008 at 12:15 am
  13. I believe that the people talking about aliens and the people talking about disease are both right. It could be possible that this is an alien form of bacteria that came from space on whatever crashed into your hometown. We would have no immunity to it and thus could explain the military video. I hope I’m not being too morbid.

  14. Hard to tell from the dark and grainy footage what happened. It’s not a zombocalypse, a few of the zombies would have been wandering around. It kind of reminds me of that planet Miranda from the movie Serenity, the planet where people got a drug that made them peaceful but it worked too well. The people all got so lethargic they just sat down and never got up, just starved sitting down. However, the government presence does not indicate a normal government conspiracy. The fewer people involved in any conspiracy, the easier it is to keep under wraps. Whatever happened, the government couldn’t have expected this outcome, or at least most certainly didn’t want it, whether they started it or not.

  15. you know, i was playing the video again and they say that they are following a signal or something… what EXACTLY IS the signal they are following?

  16. IM NOT ONE TO BELIEVE IN ALIENS BUT I DO BELIEVE IN METEORS AND FALLING SATELLITES. IT CANT BE ALIENS IT JUST CANT.IF INFACT IT IS A FALLING SATELLITE ITS PROBEBLY THE ONE WE TRIED TO SHOOT DOWN. OR IT COULD BE A SATELLITE THAT GOT INTO SOMETHING DEADLY,VERY DEADLY…

Collin on April 28th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
  17. Okay. A meteor or whatever lands there, and shortly thereafter the town gets closed down/quarantined. From what little you’ve been able to find, the military units involved don’t look like they’re equipped for any kind of biological or chemical hazards, so maybe its not nearly as lethal as that movie clip suggests. Maybe it really is just a recovery operation of some kind.

Of course, I’ve suggested before the military might be trying to keep something IN as opposed to the rest of us OUT.

Who the hell knows at this point.

Connell on April 28th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
  18. I totally got the chills reading this. I don’t know what to say. Maybe its radioactive and the people who didn’t die from it are going to turn out like the people from The Hills Have Eyes. I mean, sure that was America’s fault but it still might be a problem with radioactive stuff. That crap is really scary if you ask me.

I’ll keep reading. =) Good Luck!

  19. It may very well be a little bit of everything. What if a military satellite fell from orbit and it happened to have picked up some deep space virus? It isn’t as sinister as aliens infecting us on purpose. If so that would explain why the people in the video where following a signal. If a virus or disease is powerful enough to survive in orbit it very well could drop an entire town full of people where they stand. It may not kill them the second they get it but it may kill them moments after they start to feel sick (which would have the same effect of leaving people dead in the streets) I would expect the people that filmed that video are probably dead now, an the soliders surrounding your town are in response to that. The people in the video obviously had no idea that anything was wrong, they were probably just tracking the downed satellite and never expected to find the town full of corpses. Just because it is alien doesn’t mean it is little green men, could just be an experiment conducted in orbit gone wrong.

    maybe u can see
