So now it's a military thing..? →← Can't keep waiting.

Good news and bad, I guess. I called my friend in Ogden, only to find out that he decided to leave a few hours ago, and doesn’t want to wait around in Salt Lake City for 10 hours until I can get there. He’s got a few friends with him, though, and says that the drive to Piedmont and back shouldn’t take more than a day, roundtrip.

I tried to argue with him, but he said we’re probably both just overreacting, and that he’d contact me the second he gets back.

So this sucks… now it’s back to waiting. I’ll tell all of you as soon as I hear something.

  1. Andrew,
I have a funny feeling that your friend Ogden will not be getting back to you anytime soon. If you do not hear back from them in 24 hours I would start to get worried. Good luck and best wishes.

  2. I don’t like the sound of this, but let’s hope for the best. I think maybe you should call your friend back in a few hours, have him describe what’s going on as he enters the town…I don’t know, I just have a bad feeling. I hope you get this cleared up soon.

  3. Hello Andrew,
Continuing my feeble attempts at research I came across a somewhat disturbing fact. “The (place mentioned) will likely remain the way they have been for countless ages, an isolated pocket of wilderness”. That statement alone gives me a chill. It sounds like the perfect place for “something” to happen. I have read all replys to you and I have to say that the “zombie” theory is laughable. Science and the government, however, are (bluntly speaking) scary!

I’m sorry about your impatient friend. As you say…it sucks. Give him 24 hours and then start packing for your own journey. I hate to think you will be alone in this but I suggest that you rest while you are waiting. You, my friend, are going to need your strength.

I’ll be waiting with you. Good Luck and, hopefully, you’ll hear from him soon.

  5. Andrew,
Be careful whatever you decide to do. With all that’s been going on, or rather, that hasn’t been going on, it’s pretty clear that something out of the ordinary is happening in Piedmont.

You had mentioned that it was in harsh mountainous terrain, and I have a theory that perhaps something either landed there (i.e. - a government satellite) or that perhaps something that hasn’t been awakened in a long time is starting to stir again. Afterall, longshot but there are a lot of Native American stories of spirits and such in those areas.

Don’t mind me though, I am probably just letting superstitions get the best of me. It’s not as if Piedmont was Centralia.

I hope all is well though, my thoughts are with you.

  6. If it were a government cover-up, they might try to remove traces of Piedmont from the internet. First of all, I hope your site doesn’t go down, second of all, you might want to conduct a search with a few search engines and on google earth to see if anything comes up. I couldn’t find that chemical spill you mentioned, so they might have gotten to other sources too.
It could be other things besides a cover up. I certainly hope so.

    Good luck!

  7. Hey, I’m always game for a roadtrip. You’ve got my attention. Anyone else out there with me? Chance for a little excitement or adventure in Andrew’s support?

Where’s the closest airport? Anyone with me?

  8. Hi. You might just want to try and keep touch with your friend as much as possible and if you lose connection with him try to find another friend or friends to take you down there. I wish you the best though.

  10. I am from Piedmont and left in ‘99 but my family has never heard about your family. You’re right about the town, nothing ever happens there, except for the occasional power surges. I will try to contact them and see what I can find out.

  11. Who were these friends he went with? Are they people you know? Did they have anyway to get into contact with the outside world when they left? Do you know if they brought cell phones or (better yet) satellite phones? I doubt you get reception in your small mountain town.

And more importantly perhaps, were they armed?

Now this all sounds paranoid and whatnot, but if you don’t hear back from your friends by the day after tomorrow, it’ll be time to get paranoid.

  12. Hey, at least your friend can go and see what’s happening without you having to go there. I hope your friend reports back with good news and that everything is alright with your family.
